We transformed two twin floorplates for The City of London into bright, playful and welcoming CAT A+ workspaces, all delivered with a close and carefully managed budget. The design makes every square metre work harder; placing the kitchen where it enhances the look and flow of the space, reserving the best daylight for desking, and creating a welcoming meet‑and‑greet reception. Colour, form and thoughtful detailing replace traditional partitions, while bespoke touches such as our own acoustic panel design ensure the spaces feel distinctive, cohesive and ready for the next occupier.
The meet‑and‑greet sets the tone for the entire workspace, offering a refined yet relaxed arrival experience. Our bespoke acoustic wall panels, designed by us and made from recycled content, create a sculptural backdrop that softens sound and introduces material depth. High‑end Norr11 lounge chairs elevate the space with a sense of quiet luxury, inviting guests to pause rather than pass through. A large internal window frames views into the adjacent meeting room, where the colour‑matched palette creates a seamless visual connection. Together, these details form an arrival moment that feels crafted, contemporary and confidently welcoming.
The kitchen is the heart of the floorplate, designed as a welcoming, multifunctional hub where people naturally gather. Positioned to capture great natural light, it anchors the social side of the workspace with a generous layout that feels relaxed and communal. The mint colour brings energy, while soft curves and warm materials ensure the space remains comfortable and inviting. The island encourages people to pause, chat or open a laptop, blurring the line between work and hospitality. Of course, the staging we provided makes the space.
The meeting rooms are designed as calm, characterful spaces where colour takes the lead. Instead of traditional acoustic panels, we used bold two‑tone wall treatments to introduce depth and control without adding cost, giving each room a distinct yet cohesive identity. The carpet carries subtle touches of colour that echo the palette, helping the rooms feel connected to the wider scheme. Views of greenery soften the perimeter and bring a sense of ease, while curated art adds personality and a gentle layer of visual interest. Together, these elements create meeting spaces that feel uplifting, considered and quietly creative.
