We are delighted that we have been nominated for Mixology Awards 2020 for "Project of the year - Public Sector Interiors".
May Fawzy the Interior Architecture Director explains "The concept was inspired by the Rail & Road we connected the various zones though a circulation route that ows within the shell but also pushes the boundaries of the architectural language of the building creating various angles that intersect and cross over just like a rail network.”
The concept drove the look of the space and by introducing the single yellow line that acts as a way nding tool and the train tracks. The front of house had an urban look that was presented through the cobbled carpet the moulded concrete feature tiles behind reception complemented by the light-weight concrete desk. The ceiling grid was taken out and a more industrial linear system in dark bronze colour was introduced as a nod to the industrial look inspired by the train tracks. The feature lighting was inspired by the railway networks and was exposed in a spray painted conduit. The single yellow line is featured through the carpet and the yellow halo LED strip lights within the plaster- board-bulkheads.
The open plan was a representation of the villages natural birch tree bespoke partitions were introduced to separate the collaboration zones and the various teams. The collaboration zones acted as a buer between the dierent teams.Railway carriages were introduced as focus / meeting pods. Using TFL fabrics is another nod to the rail concept that we identied. Also the use of pendant lights that had the tube maps on their internal was a playful way to bring the concept to life.
This is our second nomination for the prestigous Mixology Awards where we were nominated "Design Practice of the Year" in 2018. We are looking forward to celebrating with all the other nominees in 2021.
