At the heart of our project was a dedication to sustainability. Our partnership with NIM began in 2015, guiding their move to 1 Carter Lane—a success recognized at the 2016 BCO regional awards. When tasked with relocating NIM from Carter Lane, their priority was clear: to minimize waste by reusing existing furniture and materials as they transitioned to Cannon Bridge House—a space that started as a Category B project. Our design for Natixis Investment Manager's office exemplifies the transformative potential of reuse. It champions environmental stewardship while underscoring the commercial and aesthetic benefits.
We created a welcoming library nook in open plan, velvet chairs and Noguchi coffee table accent a modular bookcase, completed with decor sourced through our staging service. Most of the furniture pieces were moved from NCIB's last site. The workplace culture and aims have not changed significantly since then. Our furniture choices were refined and fun, easy chairs in vintage checks are paired with bright and colourful ottomans. The orange Chesterfield sofa has lasted well over years of use. We were able to move it, and other furniture pieces, to the new breakout space.
As the furniture pieces were well chosen and well made, we were then able to transport them to their next home in this office. As nothing can be more sustainable and cost effective than re-use, Natixis Investment Managers' new workplace delivers both joyful aesthetics and sound sustainability. We used the Space Shifter throughout the floor plate, to divide the space and add both greenery and privacy.
