We had the chance to move a secure cilent who is used to a traditional workspace, into a new space that would open up to a new collaborative way of working. Through dialogue and trust, we guided the client toward a softer expression of their brand; one that lives in materiality, form, and subtle motifs rather than logo-colour paint on walls. The result is a calm, modern space that feels both authentic to the brand and supportive of the people within it. With this project, we located and worked in a Breeam 'Excellent' building. Prime property comes with its own challenges. It was required that the unique Architectual ceiling details are not altered. This constraint we turned into an opportunity by bringing that technical feel to into our design.
We all wanted a centre-point in the meeting spaces to spark conversation. Our designer took the idea of splitting the atom, and created a groove to channel a beam of light. We call it 'the uranium display', This striking installation is to represent the innovation, collaboration, and the seamless harmony between technical mastery and creative vision our client upholds to stay on the cutting edge of energy creation.
Our cafe is designed to be comfortable, build relationships and promote office culture. We chose a rich Burgandy colour, as well as a variety of textures and weaves of fabric to make people feel welcome. Natural wood and planting bring warmth. All seating is comfortable, with an oversized and free-floating banquet placed in the middle to anchor the gigantic space assigned to cafe. A teapoint is also included to provide fast access to sparkling water and hot drinks. The wellness credentials cafeteria are not skin deep. Fresh hot food is prepared on site, which is almost unheard of in central London.
We used bespoke concrete panels to continue the exceptional finish of the lift lobby, and accept this identity into our front of house. Timber floor and oak boarders to the concrete panels bring the warmth to the reception space, without being overly residential lead. What is not visible is how we took care to incorporate security elements within the scheme. The client requires high-spec. and frequently changing security apparatus. In places, we used curtains to obscure changing and uncompromisable security equipment to riser doors.
